08/09/2001 - Burgess Hill Res 3 City United Res 2 (League)

City United Reserves gained their first away win of the season in the local Derby against Pagham at Nyetimber Lane on Wednesday evening.

Chichetser had to play against a strong win in the first half but went in at half time a goal up after Michael Briffa pounced on a Robertson shot that had hit the post. Pagham had a first half goal disallowed from a indirect free-kick as the referee claimed that no player had touched the ball before it hit the net.

The referee in the second half denied three of Chichester's goal due to pushing but it had no effect on the final result. Mike Nelson put the visitors 2-0 up after 65 minutes after some neat approach play from Jamie Angell.

However Pagham responded quickly and made it 2-1 on 68 minutes after Chichester failed to clear the ball. This set up a tense finish with both sides going close but Chichester ended up winning to avenge the 5-0 defeat from last season.

Chichester play East Preston this Saturday in a league match against East Preston (KO 3pm).
