16/04/2001 - Wick Res 0 City United Res 6 (League

City United Reserves kept up their drive towards the Sussex County League Reserve Section West title with four points from a possible six over the Easter weekend.

They played a poor Franklands Village Reserve side on Saturday who had only won a handful of games all season but the home side twice came from behind to snatch a draw on a dreadful pitch.

Mark Beacher scored a spectacular 35 yard goal to give City the lead before Franklands equalised early in the second half with their first shot of the game.

An own goal gave City the lead once more before the home side equalised again - City United had numerous chances to win the match late on but luck wasn't on their side.

It was a different story on Monday with a 6-0 mauling of Wick who were reduced to nine players late in the game due to various injuries and lack of substitutes.

Mark Beacher scored an excellent hat-trick, to make it four goals in two games, and goals from Robertson, Chaters and Thompson completed the rout. City United Reserves face an away tie at Oakwood Reserves this Saturday (KO 3pm).
