25/08/2001 - Oakwood 4 City United 3 (RUR Cup 1st Round)

Last Staurday City United travelled to second division Oakwood for the first round of the RUR Charity Cup where two late goals by the home side led to something of an upset.

After two comfortable wins in the preceeding week and with a 3-1 half time lead, Chi appeared to be coasting into the next round.

But the complacency was to be thier undoing as Oakwood rallied strongly in the last half hour.

Oakwood's revival was started by Craig Belgrave with a strong shot in the 63rd minute and further goals from substitute Graham Vivian and Chris Hughes completed the turn around in the closing minutes.

Earlier the lively Hughes had given the home side a 7th minute lead before Stuart CHandler levelled the scores from a free-kick on 15 minutes.

Paul Thomas put Chi ahead 3 minutes before the interval and Chandler added his second just before the break.

It should have been plain sialing from then on but Oakwood had other ideas.
