ADRIAN BROCKWAY CONTINUES PROLIFIC SCORING
RECORD
Adrian Brockway continued his prolific scoring form for
Chichester as he claimed the second of two goals that snubbed
out Wick on Tuesday night.
The Wickers – vulnerable in defence and giving a debut to
reserve keeper Matt Willard – looked to be there for the taking
during the first-half, although it took until the 40th
minute for Chichester to break the deadlock. A corner from
Brockway was only half cleared as far as the edge of the penalty
area, where Scott Murfin was placed to drive the ball straight
back and into the net.
Chichester had to adjust their formation for the second-half,
with defender Ben Hitchman coming off with a reoccurrence of the
foot injury that has already sidelined him for most of this
season. Wick were consequently at their most dangerous
immediately after the interval, but when Brockway headed in from
a Callum Cutler cross on 69 minutes it was effectively lights
out for the hosts.
Darren Annis created two good openings in the closing stages,
narrowly missing with one and forcing a decent save from Peter
Houkes for the other, but otherwise it was all pretty tame
stuff. Wick will now be looking for revenge when the two sides
meet again on 20th April in the Brighton Charity Cup
semi-final.
