It has been a mixed week for the players and officials of Chichester City United.

On Tuesday evening manager, Adie Girdler, completed the signing of Sidlesham striker, Scott Tipper, while acknowledging his availability may be limited by a suspension picked up while still a Sidlesham player. Tipper has scored 13 times for Sidlesham this season and joined three of his new team-mates in the Sussex Senior representative side that flew out to Jersey on Saturday. Lee Preston, Mark Jackson and Neil Murfin were also in the squad that earned a 1-1 draw in the Channel Islands with Pat Harding from Hassocks scoring the Sussex goal.

Girdler has also been chasing another player to add to his squad as the season enters its final months and is just waiting to complete the final paperwork before announcing the details.

While only one game survived the wet weather at the weekend the Sussex County Division One table was revised to expunge the playing record of St Leonards. As predicted last week the East Sussex side finally folded under the weight of debt and pressure from their creditors. City’s 1-0 win over the Saints was deleted leaving them just one point ahead of East Preston but having played an extra game. After a meteoric rise through the non-League pyramid, St Leonards, over-extended themselves in the Doc Marten’s League and were on the slide long before returning to the County League at the start of the season.

Although the City first team were without a game last Saturday the Reserves suffered another postponement with Church Road too waterlogged for their scheduled encounter with East Grinstead.

This Saturday the City first team travel to Horsham YMCA and the Reserves entertain Hailsham Town.
